Work Package 6

Evaluation of the effect of selected bioactive ingredients against common bacterial fish pathogens in vitro and of new enriched fish feed on a semi-pilot scale in simulated conditions of cultivation

Duration months: 6-48

Objectives

This WP has two main goals. To evaluate in vitro the antibacterial activity of selected extracts (different doses) against important marine bacterial pathogens and their effect on fish leukocytes. The second goal is to assess the impact of new enriched fish feeds on fish performance and this will be achieved by administering them to experimental animals at different doses for at least 4 months. During this period data on the following aspects will be collected:

a) Developmental characteristics

b) Hematological and biochemical characteristics

c) Disease resistance, innate and adaptive immunity

Deliverables

D6.1: Evaluation of antibacterial activity of selected extracts against important marine pathogens and of their effect on fish leukocytes in vitro [M45].

D6.2: Evaluation of the effect of new enriched fish feed on the productive /developmental characteristics of fish and of the Impact of New Enriched Fish Feed on Hematological and Biochemical Characteristics of Experimental Groups, and on Disease Resistance [M48].
