Work Package 7

Evaluation of the effect of innovative feed products during commercial operation aquaculture conditions on growth, survival and parasitic load.

Duration months: 12-48

Objectives

The current WP has two main goals. To evaluate in large scale the potential effects of the proposed feeds that will be provided at farmed fish species. Firstly, the evaluation will be in respect of the fishes’ growth rates. Emphasis will be given at sea bass, sea bream fry and potentially rainbow trout juveniles, however, the WP3, WP4 and WP5 will provide essential information and data that will determine the final selection of the fish species that will undergo test runs. Secondly, on the assessment of their disease resistance. The duration of the experiment(s) in large scale will be 3 to 4 months. During this period data on the following aspects will be collected:

a) Growth characteristics

b) Physiochemical characteristics of the water

c) Monitoring and reporting of any disease development or behavioural changes

Deliverables

D7.1: A two-fold assessment of the potential impacts of the proposed feeds in respect to the fishes’ growth rates in comparison to the commercial feeds and an of the potential impacts of the proposed feeds in respect to the fish fry disease resistance [48].
