Main Goal

FEEDACTIV focuses on the development of innovative aquaculture feed supplements based on natural bioactive compounds that boost the immune system and exhibit antioxidant and antimicrobial activity.

The project aims to improve the quality of farmed fish species by using bioactive agents from alternative raw materials of plant and marine origin as fish feed supplements. More specifically the research and innovation objectives of the project are:

1) To create a new, and more importantly, sustainable source of natural ingredients that can be integrated at an industrial level within the food supply chain.

2) To cover the consumers’ demand for chemical free personalized nutrition meeting the needs of a new developed market of functional food products.

3) To improve the productivity of European aquaculture with environmental, economic and social acceptance.
